Reval Folk

Our events focus mainly on special acoustic concerts in the Old Town Music Hall. We heartily welcome anyone interested in traditional music. There is also a cozy café and a children´s room for families. We believe that music is everyone´s right. Learning about traditional music from around the world helps people get closer to their authentic selves. This has become a rarity in our marketing-business and technology oriented world. Therefore, we feel our work is very important. During our two years existence, we have hosted both experienced and amateur musicians from Estonia, Belgium, Sweden, Finland, Ireland, Mordva Republic, and Wales (UK). During this time, we have organised approximately 30 events – both indoors and outdoors concerts around Estonia, workshops and an international children’s ethno camp with international teachers, many pop-up concerts (some in cafés, in old peoples’ homes, schools, and flash mobs). At our indoor concerts, we always have intro musicians before the main event, to get the spotlight to talented amateurs. The main artists always have relevant experience and are masters of their instruments. We also expect the musician to put together a program especially for this concert that is not part of their general tour. It should be an evening with selected tunes and stories from the artist’s country, region and life. This gives the audience a chance to travel in both time and space through music.

NGO Reval Folk was founded on 20th of September 2017 in Tallinn by a civic activist Kadri Allikmäe and a musician Tuulikki Bartosik.
